Cal Poly Continuing Education’s Center for Nonprofit Organization Advancement (CNOA) has partnered with the Nonprofit Support Center (NSC) of Santa Barbara to offer its educational programs. Click here to visit the NSC website.

The Nonprofit Development Officer Certificate is designed to help individuals learn about and become active in fundraising efforts with local nonprofit organizations.

The Volunteer Management Certificate program is designed to work directly with nonprofit organizations to assist them in making the most of development volunteers.

A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon completion of the sequence of classes. The certificate is issued by both California Polytechnic State University and the Nonprofit Support Center.

Sponsorships for Nonprofit Organization Volunteers
Recognized nonprofit organizations can sponsor either volunteers or paid employees to participate in the Nonprofit Officer Development Certificate. Smaller nonprofit organizations can apply for reduced registration fees for either their volunteers or paid employees.

Additional Benefits for Participants
Participants 50+ who participate in the Nonprofit Officer Development program will also receive a scholarship that covers their annual membership fee for Cal Poly’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) during the academic  year they are participating in the certificate program.


Nonprofit Development Officer Certificate Program:

The Nonprofit Development Officer Certificate is designed to help individuals learn about and become active in fundraising efforts with local nonprofit organizations.



Volunteer Management Certificate Program:

The Volunteer Management Certificate Program provides training and resources to nonprofit staff who manage volunteers to understand the critical components of volunteer management, specifically within fund development.
