Now you have access to credit courses from Cal Poly’s quarterly schedule without enrolling in a degree program. When making your educational plans, there are hundreds of courses from which to choose.

Enrolling

Four Easy Steps to Enroll

  1. View available Cal Poly Classes. NOTE: The schedule of classes is only available online, and can no longer be purchased in printed copy or .pdf format.
  2. Pick up registration materials at Cal Poly Continuing Education
    • Registration forms are available beginning two weeks before the beginning of the quarter. See deadlines below.
    • Pick up forms at Jespersen Hall, Room 101; Open M-F, 8am – 5pm
  3. Get the signatures of the instructor and department chair.
    • Based on space availability
    • Matriculated Cal Poly students have priority
  4. Return the completed forms to Cal Poly Continuing Education and pay the fees
    • Go to: Jespersen Hall, Room 101
    • Pay Regular Fees: Before Friday of 3rd week of quarter
    • Pay an Additional Late Fee of $25: After 3rd week of quarter
    • Enrollment Closed: After last day of 4th week of quarter

Fees

Fees are determined by the number and type of units. Cal Poly Continuing Education fees remain comparable to, if not lower than, other CSU campuses.

Lecture/Seminar/Internship Units $200/unit
Activity Units $200/unit
Senior Project/Lab/Independent Study Units $220/unit
Late Fee $25

Miscellaneous Course Fees
Some Cal Poly courses have a miscellaneous fee for services, material, or facilities. Miscellaneous course fees are listed in the course schedule and must be paid to the University Cashier, Administration Building, Room 131E.

Courses held at the Recreation Center require payment of membership in order to access the center. Fees must be paid at the Recreation Center.

FAQs

How will my teacher know I'm registered in class?
Your teacher will know you are registered when she/he can see you on her/his online class roster.

Do I get a Cal Poly ID?
After submitting your registration forms and fees, you can request a free Continuing Education Open University ID (paper), which will give you access to the library. Prior to use, the card must be activated by the library. Alternatively, you can purchase a picture Cal Poly ID (plastic), for $5.00. You must request an ID form signed by our office and take it to the campus Lighthouse Atrium (Bldg. #19) where your ID will be created.

Can I use the Cal Poly Rec. Center?
After submitting your registration and fees you can pay a membership fee to the Rec. Center in order to gain access. You will need a Cal Poly ID for entrance to the Rec. Center.

Can I use the Cal Poly Health Center?
Only students admitted to a Cal Poly degree program paying the additional Health Center Fees are eligible to use Health Center Services.

What are the benefits of getting a picture Cal Poly ID?
You can use your Cal Poly ID card for the Campus Express Club, Rec. Center access, Laser printing in campus computer labs, parking permit purchase/verification, plus other services offered on campus. Click here for more information on using your Cal Poly ID.

What is "My Cal Poly Portal"?
My Cal Poly is a web portal that features information and services. Through your Cal Poly Portal you can access:

Will I be able to get a Cal Poly email address to communicate with my teachers and other students?
After submitting your registration forms and fees, you will be assigned a Cal Poly email address. You may access and activate your email address the following day after you submit your registration. Click here to access a document with information on how to activate your email address.

What if my teacher uses online delivery for course material through blackboard?
You can blackboard from your Cal Poly Portal. Click here to get instructions on how to activate your portal.

How do I access my grades?
