Teach With Us
Be part of Cal Poly Continuing Education programs. We are pleased to welcome your ideas for developing courses. Creating a continuing education course is a great opportunity to leverage your expertise and interests while offering educational opportunities to students and the community.
Cal Poly Continuing Education courses can be delivered via the classroom; online, with the potential to reach a wider audience; or in hybrid form with both online and on-campus sessions. Our wider programs are offered throughout the year and include academic courses as well as courses designed for professional and personal enrichment.
If you need some assistance going from concept to reality, we can walk you through the steps to help develop successful programs, both in the short and long term. We look forward to working with you on your academic initiatives. We're here to support your success.

Instructor Resource Guide
For further information, download the Instructor Resource Guide (PDF) which has been provided to familiarize you with the guidelines and services surrounding your teaching appointment offered by Cal Poly Continuing Education.
How Self-Support Works
Cal Poly is a self-support entity at Cal Poly and does not receive any state funding; therefore all costs must be recovered from course fees. Costs will include some or all of the following: instructor salaries, instructional supplies, facility and equipment rental, travel and per diem, administrative overhead, etc. We ask that a thorough estimate of expenses associated with running the program accompany your Course/Program Proposal. A program coordinator will review all expenditures and prepare a budget to ensure the program's success.
Submit a Course or Program Proposal
If you're ready to start now, complete a Course/Program Proposal (PDF). Cal Poly Continuing Education is here to assist with any questions you may have about completing and submitting a proposal. Feel free to call or schedule and appointment to speak with a Program Coordinator.
Course Review
A program coordinator will contact you within 15 business days of receiving the proposal. The review process varies in length, depending on the type of course or program.
A course being proposed for academic credit requires and academic review process and approval before it can be offered. Visit the Academic Programs webpage for more information.
